Are You Integrating Technology into Your Time Management?
Technology is a great implement to utilize when it comes to time management. It can help one manage their schedules, to-do lists, appointments, events, appointments, etc. There are numerous applications out there, and you can find one that works best for you, depending on what you want to use it for.
Some applications integrate with
each other as well. For example, I use the calendar on my iPhone. If I receive
an even through an email or text, I’ll get a pop-up that automatically allows
me to add it to my calendar. When I’m working, I use Outlook to manage meetings
and events with my team. We’ll send out “events” that you can either accept or
deny and based off of the selection, it will be added to the calendar. I used
to always use my planner and at times, I do miss being able to physically write
down reminders for myself. However, my planner was not something I always had
with me, unlike my phone.
Having all my scheduled events at
my fingertips gives me the ability to not overbook myself and stops me from
“over-committing and using lack of time as an excuse for late work or missing
assignments.” (Stone, 2014). Project and time management is a highly effective
tool that will keep you accountable. With the world becoming more digital by the
day, it’s important to utilize the tools that we are given.
In Finding Balance at Medical School, Alphie Yip talks about a diagram/triangle that he thinks of when it comes to balancing his time with school. The three points on the triangle include “getting good grades, having a social life, or getting good sleep… supposedly in life, you can only have two.” If that is the case, why not use the tools we have to the best of our ability to make our lives easier and less stressful?

Hi Christine, it is true that with today's technology time management is easier than before. As you mention we always have our cellphones on us so by getting the right apps we can track and balance life a little better. I also miss writing down things on planners but just having them on the phone and accessible at any moment gives me peace, to be honest.
